Foundation

The Whitsunday Anglican School Foundation plays a valuable role within our school environment. The Foundation funds a variety of projects and programs for the benefit of the school.

Mission Statement

To build relationships with our community which will assist in the creation of resources for the continuing development of the school.

History

Early in 1999 a group of interested parties formed the Whitsunday Anglican School Foundation Steering Committee resulting in the official Foundation launch on Friday 5th November 1999 in the Pansy Wood Music Centre.

The Foundation is ultimately a means for attracting financial donations to ensure the continuing development of facilities at the Whitsunday Anglican School, which will benefit our students now and into the future. We encourage our whole community to participate in the provision of first-class academically focused education in Mackay.

Operation of Foundation Funds

The Parents

The Foundation, and indeed the School, views present and past parents as an integral part of Whitsunday Anglican School and values their continued support. At the commencement of each year, a small function, the Principal’s Welcome, is hosted for new and continuing families of the School. Likewise, at the end of each year, parents whose children are completing their education are farewelled and thanked for their support and involvement throughout their children’s educational journey with us at the Departing Parents Function. Both functions are co-hosted with the School Board and Parents’ & Friends’ Association.

Scholarships and bursaries fund

Potential donors to Whitsunday Anglican School have the option to fund Scholarships and/or Bursaries to deserving students. Information on how to become a benefactor in this area can be obtained by contacting the Registrar.

Susan Kennedy Library Fund

Ms Susan Kennedy was the inaugural Librarian at Whitsunday Anglican School, and it was her great love of bringing together children and books that prompted the Foundation to set up this Fund. Donations to the Fund are tax deductible.

Business Partnership Program (BPP)

The BPP is an initiative of the Foundation established to fund building projects, facility upgrades and resource improvements for the School.

Old Scholars and Reunions

The Foundation has been the driving force behind developing the Old Scholars Association, hosting functions in Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane since 2001. Ten, twenty, twenty-five and thirty Year Class Reunions are also now an annual event under the guidance of the Old Scholars’ President Ms Jenny Ritchie. Further information is available via the Old Scholars’ Facebook page.

Building Fund

The expectation of the School is for each family to support the Foundation with voluntary donations to the Whitsunday Anglican School Building Fund, which assists the development of School infrastructure. A donation of $100 per term per family is charged on the fee statements. Payment is voluntary and tax deductible.
