PROJECT ROCKIT comes to Whitsunday Anglican School

PROJECT ROCKIT came to Whitsunday Anglican School recently, as well as special guest Mayor Greg Williamson.

Our Years 7 and 8 students attended the new national Telstra program that aims to tackle cyberbullying by empowering bystanders, rather than targeting bullies.

The School was the first in Mackay to undertake the session as part of the national tour which is a youth-driven movement against bullying.

Head of Middle School Ms Karen Owens said cyber safety issues have not been faced by any generation before, and that real conversations were vital to educate young people on the issue.

“The 24-hour nature and connectivity of technology brings new challenges to the students of today. Educating them in digital citizenship and equipping them to be confident and positive in their use of technology is vital,” Ms Owens said.
